The 27-year-old Swiss Roger Federer and the world No.3 Novak Djokovic will face each other again after their last meeting in Miami. Both of them are really excited about the confrontation and expect to have a great tennis match. Both players had great matches in the quarterfinals. The world No. 2 got to the semifinals after defending the German Mischa Zverev 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 whereas the Serbian had a great game against Juan Martin del Potro, in which the world No.3 beat the Argentine with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

In the last 10 meetings between the two, Federer has won 8 matches, however in the last confrontation Djokovic played in great way and beat the Swiss 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 during the semifinals at the Sony Ericsson Open. Now the Swiss is expecting to play a better match against Djokovic and hopes to increase his game and his confidence with a win in Rome. However, it has to be mentioned, that the Serbian is currently playing great tennis at clay surface and even adding a winning set against the King of Clay, Rafael Nadal, in the final at Monte Carlo.

“We haven’t had each other that much on clay. It seems like he’s playing well again. Djokovic came through very convincingly against good players so I expect a good match. I hope I can play better than in Miami. I think everywhere I go there is always pressure involved because I still think people expect me to go far and win tournaments and so forth,” stated Federer.

During the quarterfinals, the Swiss had difficulties in the first set against the German but with great shots in key moments of the tiebreak he managed to win the set 7-6(3), which gave him confidence to play at his best and achieve the triumph by winning the second set comfortably 6-2.

On the other hand, Djokovic played an unbelievably clever game against the Argentinean, who tried to avoid changing the pace but Djokovic took that advantage incredibly well and Del Potro definitely could not put up with it. With three breaks in the first set and an ace on set point Djokovic demonstrated his dominance over Del Potro. And despite that Juan Martin Del Potro improved his serve in the second set, that wasn’t enough to tie the game and at the end Djokovic got a victory with a score of 6-4 in the second set.

Now, these two players expect a great match and will try to win and obtain the ticket to the final. They both had their own motivation for this; Federer is hoping for his first title of the season to regain his confidence and the Serbian his aiming to defend his title and improving his clay season this year.  We wish the best for both of them in this tournament and in the rest of the season and we hope to see a great semifinal at the Rome Masters.
